quoting post from Double13:

Hey Man

I have been using Linux with no problems processing NEF files from my D100 and newly acquired D3200 (24Mpixels).

I use UFRAW to read the images into GIMP.

There are also plugins for FSpot and Shotwell. They all work fine. What software are you using?

You can also use Nikon View, Nikon Browser and Photoshop with the WINE software under Linux. It also works fine as far as I've tested it, but I prefer to use Gimp.

It sounds like you are having problems with the conversion - the NEF files on the camera may well be okay - given the size of the image files.

Thanks, yes it's a shame I didn't know there was nothing wrong with the RAW files, I would love to have had them for my shoot the other day. I do have GIMP on my pc running Linux, but I can't get on with it. I'll look into the WINE and UFRAW etc, thanks for that.

Thanks Kevin, read the linked page.

Well that's it then, like everyone has said on here, the small image I see is not the RAW file, just the tiny jpg. Well thanks everyone, I'll carry on shooting in RAW again. I just need to get software sorted on my computers.

Cheers everyone!

Chris.
