I've got one of the Chinese made units off ebay - looks identical to the Core unit.

Didn't come with the diffuser cover.

Have been pleased with it so far.

Going back to this thread,

Does anyone know who actually makes this??
I've had one for years but the potometer dial died.
So I soldered a different one in. But it's never been the same.
I've decided to try and do a proper repair with the correct ohm pot
But it was years ago, and can't find a break down or firm to ask.

I was due a shoot before and soldered what I had to hand so the flash shoots 3/4 to full power now, which was fine then !! But want low power as people don't seem to like 400w close up lol !!

Viewfinder are based in Leicester but looking at their site it looks like they no longer sell their badged version.

Should be easy enough to find what size it needs to be, use it at a high output and measure the resistance, then turn it down a little .. use it again and measure resistance again. If you have a flash meter as well you can soon work out a relationship between the ohms and power output and take it from there If you dont have a meter it will still be possible to work out a ratio and get a best guess

If you plan to by off these people be careful if your using card?

I brought of them at focus a few years ago and used my card to pay and they scimmed it, and tried to buy £5000 worth of airline tickets.

ouch
