Instead of having a portfolio rating, I'd like to have an image rating system. Maybe there could also be an algorithm added later to rate the port based on the average rating of photos in the port, but that's a bit ahead...

If you have 4 ten-rated photos and a five-rated photo, you know you're doing good, but need to work on the bad photo. And if you drop that photo, you get rid of the bad ratings without having to find whoever rated you to change their opinion of your port. I think this is even more useful when a bad rating came from someone who rated you and hasn't logged on for a month or more to update a rating... assuming they care to.

I agree.

Why?

Does the fact that I am only a gold member mean I am not worthy enough to rate someones photograph?

I believe by premium Rick was referring to silver and above paid members .
At least that was my take on what he wrote.

agreed, yes prem members deserve better features but the ability to pay for a site or membership should not dictate that one should only be te only ones allowed to rate, some free members on here are of a higher and far better standard than some prem members. the choice or ability to become a prem member does not indicate an ability as either a photographer or model.
i think that there should be a facility to let you know when soemone has rerated you though, i for one do relook at folios i have rated previously, if there are new images i look again, some newbies have added poor inital images but after a few shoots have improved beyong recognition, therefor i have increased my rating accordingly, on the same hand a few a very few have gotten worse and so have had their folio adjusted.

just a thought

I'd value the input from free members who actually use the site. I can also see Rick's point of people joining to leave bad ratings never to be seen again ( got the t shirt). Perhaps some form of filtering or time of membership cuold be applied to encompass the whole active membership.

Haha,

(But probably the most accurate ).

If you want a paid feature in the system, I think we should have to pay to see who rated you. It may also cut back on the low revenge ratings.

i.e. Have you ever honestly rated someone a 7 and gotten a 1 in response? Or worse... I used to get bored and rate every portfolio in a state while I watched a movie. Someone with one web cam photo isn't going to get a good rating, and they're good at retaliating with low numbers.
