...I've recently changed OS from PC to MAC and as a result I now have CS5.5 on my Imac.

However, when i went to edit an old NEF file today that was shot with my D90 and originally downloaded into CS4 on the PC, i now cant seem to be able to save the NEF file as a jpeg (or TIFF etc) and get this error message when i press enter..."write access was not granted"?

This is not something i have seen before and was wondering if anyone has any info on this and if i can "grant access" how would i go about doing this?

I can see this causing one hell of an issue if i can now no longer edit/save my files that were shot on my old camera (i now use a D7000 as my main one), that were subsequently imported into an older version of PS (obviously having updated to 5.5) and are now possibly conflicting between PC and MAC OS?!

HEEEEELLLPPPP!!!

In anticipation
Herbie

Deleted my original message after I re read your post. A Mac will not want to know about a drive formatted for PC. I'm suprised you managed to access the file in the first place. Have you tried saving to to hard drive on the MAC?

Actually most MACs do read FAT and NFTS formatted drives but don't write to NTFS It is PC's that don't read MAC drives, Saving to another location will likely solve the problem

Thanks guys, i will give this a go, after a few discussions on another site we have determined that ALL my NEF/XMP/JPEG files (which are on an HDD, which was originally used by a PC) are currently 'read only' files with no yellow padlock showing in the "Sharing & Permissions" section to unlock them?
I just tried it *wanders off to go bang head against wall*
Yes, it worked, iv only been a MAC user a few weeks so im still learning, and thanks to NM, that is where my education is coming from!
