I have no words, so I will use Philippa's instead: I have some very sad news - my husband, Chris died from a heart attack on Wednesday evening. I have tried to contact family and close friends to tell you myself - if I have missed you, I'm sorry you had to find out this way. We are starting to make funeral arrangements and I will post details here as soon as I know more. Everyone is welcome to come - he would have wanted us to celebrate his life. If anyone wants to post stories, pics or memories here that will help make us smile, please do - Philippa ('her indoors')Tributes are being posted at his Facebook Page. https://www.facebook.com/CStGPA

Oh my goodness, I'm shocked! I only worked with Chris a few weeks ago and had an absolutely brilliant day. Here is a shot I took of him and Sam enjoying the sunshine at the last Maunsel house event. This is very, very sad news indeed. R.I.P Chris, my thoughts are going out to your family and loved ones. xx

Definitely a loss. One of the few people on here I hadn't made an enemy of, which says a lot. One of the good guys.

I heard of this earlier today and was absolutely shocked by this tragic news. Chris was absolute gentleman, very witty, very kind, very intelligent and an excellent photographer. But above all he wasn't just a gentleman, he was a gentle man. My wife and I were lucky enough to spend a weekend over at Chris and Philippa's lovely home last year with other good friends. This has come as such a shock to us both and our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Philippa and their family. We can only offer our most sincere condolences at this awful awful time....We wish we could do more but there is nothing. To Chris, Farewell Ageing Hippy.

I really wanted to work with Chris but we just didnt get round to doing it- It was just one of those things that we were both busy or for some reason it didnt go ahead. I met Chris at a past group shoot and he seemed so lovely. I am only gutted I didnt know him properly. I truly loved his photographs, especially his portraits of people which he seemed to capture so brilliantly and effortlessly... oh and his beautiful wildlife photographs which I loved viewing brightened up some of my days- I just wish I'd told him that. Still can't believe it, It hasnt sunk in. We were planning a jewellery shoot together. Sigh. So sorry for his family and friends, much love to you. http://www.starnow.co.uk/helendiaz

That's very sad news, I've shot with Chris twice this year and you just expect to see him at shoots and the NEC. It won't be the same without him. Sincere condolences to his family.

Met once, at Studland and he left a lasting impression on me.
Truly lovely man. Genuine. With a wicked sense of humour.
Chris was the nice, the good side of this photography lark, and I will miss his words, his images, and the chance to have met him again.
Thoughts with his family, and his friends, all around the world that have lost a one off.

Goodbye to one of the kindest, warmest hearted men I've ever met.
I'll cherish the time we spent together with him looking at us like a benevolent old uncle as we proceeded to get as pissed as farts...then being up in the morning to make sure we got breakfast before lunch.
Love ya

It takes a special kind of man to allow me into his house, to stay and to meet his Mrs. Not only did Chris, along with Philippa, do this with open arms, they also let me bring my two mad dogs, who always set about demolishing every one of Chris and Philippa's dogs' toys. Each time I was there, it looked like it had been snowing, with all the cotton wool torn out of the soft toys that Charlie and Dodger kept in a special basket. Never was there any concern or worry, such a wonderful couple who couldn't have been more hospitable.
Then there was Chris's cooking, what a genius, every evening meal was a feast and I embarrassed myself every time by eating far too much as it was always sensational.
It is going to be a different world now, as some of you can imagine, I don't have many friends, no idea why, but Chris was right up there.
I believe it was his brother, hope I am right, who posted on FB with words to the effect of "no doubt you will be photographing angels in underwear now". How nice that a family member can show humour at such a time.

I was sorry to read this.
I never met or spoke to Chris but read his posts with interest and admired his work.
It was always clear from the others that posted that Chris was very well respected.
I wish him peace in his new resting place.

So many kind words, so many people expressing their sympathy at this sad news, it is heart warming to know that NM has this kind of community. I heard the news this afternoon, to say I was shocked and stunned is an understatement. Chris, and his darling wife Philippa, have been friends for a relatively short time, but in that time we have spent a good few weekends together, with other very good friends, and we always had so much fun, so many giggles and many, many drunken nights!!!! Matt has embarrassed us all with his feasting on the delicious meals (served at regular meal times), Gaz has embarrassed us all with his enjoyment of the 'hospitality, and Gus and Boris have embarrassed us all with their soft toy massacres........and throughout it all Chris would sit and smile, as Gaz said, like a benevolent old Uncle, thoroughly enjoying the shennanigans! He was a true gentleman, a kind, intelligent and very witty man and I will miss the 'grumpy, ageing old hippy', very much My heartfelt sympathies go to his family right now, I just wish we could do something, but as Ken said.. there is nothing, and I feel completely useless. Will miss you Chris. xxx Remember that happiness is as contagious as gloom
