Right then
Following on from the previous thread about a monthly assignment, here it is.
The rules are as follows, and fairly straightforward.
Each month, an assignment will be issued. This can be interpreted as broadly as you wish (and the aim is to have it fairly broad).
Post your entries for the month to this thread. the result will also be posted here.
The sole judge will be my girlfriend, now, to help those who do not know her as well as I do (which, hopefully is most of you...) she is not a photographer, but a classically trained artist. As a hint, she is a sucker for a good composition, above all else really...
As it is a monthly competition, and there is a bit of time for reflection, I would like to have a bit of critique in this. Not as in your face or brutal as the stigs, but some feedback. Now, SWMBO is a fairly positive type (sometimes, she even finds something good to say about my photos!), but if you really do not want a comment on your entry, please include the words "no comment" with the photo.
There are only two rules about the judging really..
1. The judge (Vicky) is always right.
2. If, by chance the judge is ever wrong, then rule one applies.
The first assignment, and time-scale, will follow in a couple of minutes.
If any clarity is required on the rules or the comp, please either post here or NM me.
<Edit> - In answer to a specific question, your entry does not need to be taken in the competition time frame, or indeed taken for the competition. If it fits the theme of the title, however shoehorned, go for it... </Edit>

Month two
The theme for month two is:
To Sleep, perchance to dream
Please do not post entries until 10 September. Until 31 August, please enter competition number 1, if you can find a suitable photo.

Month one.
To get going, and in light of what has been going on, Assignment number one is...
Celebration.
The closing date for this is 31 August, thereafter, we should move to full calendar months.

By the way, if there is any interest in this, some replies would be good, to keep the thread visible.
If not, no worries, it can gently fade away.

I think it's a good idea and will possibly have a go at entering.I do like competitions with a theme. Gives you something specific to shoot :-)
Does it have to be model orientated or could it be a photo of say, a street party?

Yeah, I'm still interested but will have to pass on the first one as the deadline is too tight for me. I am in the process of moving house and completion date is the 31st, so I have to be all packed up and moved out by then. I still have a LOT of packing up to do, so photography is out until the beginning of september (when I plan on chilling out and taking life easy for at least a fortnight).

Since I happened to have a photo that sort of matched the theme I might as well fling it in here, with little regard for my own or anybody else's safety. I really wish that my face wasn't blurred out on this one. This was before I had the sense to not anonymise myself in my photos, but I still sort of like this one.

I do love a challenge, so I am entering my pic entitled 'Party for One!' The illiteracy of the future will be ignorance not of reading or writing, but of photography. No, I am not rude, I just say what everyone else hasn't the balls to say

I would participate but I'm not going to be shooting anything related to the theme in the next fortnight so can't. Its a hard one to do without models!

Fair enough. You could always look for an interpretation that did not require models though... See you next month, I hope. -Nick G *Insert witty comment here*

That pat on the back wouldn't be from a cow now, would it?

I actually have a very funny photo I done whilst having a shoot its a mess around warm up one. And thought it be ideal just to put it on here but unsure if it fits with the competition. Would it be allowed?

Well the worst that could happen is that you won't win. I'd suggest, wait until the thread has dropped off the front page, then post your picture. -Nick G *Insert witty comment here*

The second month theme is..
To Sleep, perchance to dream
A reminder, do not post entries for month two until 10 September. I am posting it simply to help people who wish to take shots for the competition.
A reminder that the theme can be interpreted as widely as you wish, and the wider the better.
Any questions, please feel free to ask. If you want to enter the current competition, please do.
Remember that bumping threads is not allowed on net model, but that is not my rule; for this thread, I positively encourage it...

Thanks for the entries so far people.
You have a few days to enter the August competition (the clue being in the word "August"), with the theme Celebration.
