Equity will raise the following motion at this years TUC congress on Tuesday.
The unions 10 point proposal for all photo shoots.

1. Maximum 10 hour day.
2. Suitable meals laid on.
3. Expenses for journeys of 10 miles or over.
4. Respect and dignity towards models at all times.
5. No long lasting changes of appearance including hair unless agreed.
6.Nudity or semi nudity must be approved in advance.
7.Private changing area an bathroom facilities.
8. Studio temperature must be at least 21 degrees.
9. Insurance cover an prompt payment.
10. Models aged under 16 must be chaperoned at all times,

guess 10 means even when in studio being photographed.

Meh
I don't think i have aver worked with a model who was a member of equity so i doubt any of this will matter ... but if i did ...

1, My day long shoots rarely go beyond two hours so this wont be a problem
2, Pizza, Jaffa cakes and crisp sandwiches are already standard on my shoots
3, It may prove difficult to get models to pay my travel but its a step in the right direction, until it happens i'll just make do with models making me cake, i suppose i'll have to evaluate a mileage to slice conversion rate.
4, Already standard for me ... its why the word "foo" was invented
5, I wonder if spanking marks count as long term changes.
6, I would hope so, not much point in doing a shoot if the the baps are not coming out.
7, I cant imagine a model not having these things available they just might be too far away, in which case flexibility will be needed and i can turn my back.
8, luckily I don't use studios so shooting lingerie in the snow wont be a problem then.
9, Insurance - No problem, (might be for some) as for "prompt payment" its a bit of a cop out, it doesn't mean anything ... if the terms are 90 days of the invoice date and its paid before then it would be a prompt payment ... i always return images within two days of returning home that's my "prompt"
10 doesn't affect me, I have a no anklebiter policy (due to point 6)

Taking 6 & 7 together a model must need somewhere private to take off their clothes to shoot nude.

'Equity will raise the following motion at this years TUC congress on Tuesday.'

Why the TUC congress for goodness sake? Surely they've enough headline grabbing topics like 'teachers want bigger pensions for less work' without stooping to changing rooms for nude models?

Its all well and good passing a motion but how would the TUC enforce such conditions if equity are unable to do it. They represent actors. Do they normally represent models? Or are they simply concerned about models who also happen to act.

Am I taking this too seriously? Answers on a postcard please!
