My current workflow goes something like this:
  • Shoot RAW on D200
  • Shortlist/rate in Bridge
  • Open in ACR (I have CS4, 64-bit) for edits
  • In most cases, that's enough, and a batch PS script will export JPGs
  • For those where it's not, give it the PS treatment

  • Like I say, ACR lets me do most things that I want. This is nice, because the overhead of an XMP file is a few kb, rather than the cough-how-big MB for a PSD. However, one instance came up the other day where I wanted to fix converging verticals, and I don't believe that the version I have (5.4.0.57) can do that.

I'm not yet tempted to upgrade the camera (it's not yet the thing that's stopping me from taking better photographs - that limitation is still me), so are there any alternatives to my version of ACR which might suit me better? I'll upgrade to CS6 if that's the way forward.

    I am currently on CS5

The crop tool on this version does not have perspective correction included, but the Lens Corrections panel will allow you to correct perspective before you apply your crop.

Not sure how things work in CS6

Thanks, Kevin, I'll give that a whirl.
