I am using a Nikon D100 and D90 I find I am using my 18-70 F3.5/4.5 as it gives the range of "zoom" I find suits my work, but after reading glowing reports of the quality of the 24-70 f2.8 I am seriously looking at getting one ,probably second hand, would appreciate any feed back from any one using this lens.

I've got the 12-24 F4, 17-55 F2.8 and 24-70 F2.8 which I normally use on a D300, though a D7000 is available. Looking through the metadata it seems I use the 24-70 much more than the 17-55 on the D300 even when shooting around 30mm-50mm that both lenses could handle. I think that maybe the 24-70 is a better balance on the D300 than the 17-50 but that's all a matter of personal preference.

You're looking at the right lens so 'Go for it' - you'll be amazed how much better the constant aperture zooms are compared to the variable ones - but I suppose that's why they cost so much more!
