I've accidentally, but very luckily, rubbed off some of the film on my lens.

I did used to protect my lenses with skylights/UV filter but after a tuition day, the photographer mentioned he didn't use filters as they reduce image quality.

So, any really helpful suggestions, please?

Hi David

I've only just noticed your post.
I am one of those who doesn't/and never had a skylight/UV filter on my lens so I don't know if it would effect quality, I shouldn't imagine it would if its a good quality filter you put on but there is so many cheap ones around these days maybe that is what the photographer was making comparisons with.
