I got badly sexually assaulted by a photographer many years ago.. a well known photographer on this site. I feel like I have left it too long to go to the police but I do want to warn other models. Anyone know of the best thing to do in this situation? its only since I got older and grew up I have realised how disgusting his behaviour is and want to do something about it, does anyone have suggestions on what I should do?

Only thing you can really do is to warn other models and tell Admin on this site about this person. It'll be hard to prove something now as it was like you say "years ago".

Well as recent court cases have shown there is no time limit on assault cases, you can still go to the police.

I think you should name them to warn others off, if they're still shooting. It will allow models to get more references on them if they're considering working with them. And if other people have experienced the same thing then maybe you'll have a better chance with the police.

how can you warn other models if the guy isn't named.
if its genuine, and can be proved,then you have no problem naming him

If it can be proved then it's a police matter, plain and simple.

Naming him, even with 'evidence', could land her in court with libel claims.

She could have said "if you are going to work with so and so, I suggest you get references because I had a bad experience" without it being libel. Of course that's probably now not a goer since the context of the conversation has been given and that horse has bolted.

It would be difficult for you, and a bit of a hassle to report it, but, if nothing else it would scare the hell out of him! I was contacted recently about an alleged assault at a school ( not mine and nothing to do with me! They just got my number as I run a website of a nearby school!) many years ago! The police are now required to investigate all reports no matter how old!

xIvyx - If you want to report the photographer to the police and admin do it to the police first so that they can initiate an investigation before the photographer can destroy anything. If you get the police involved gather as much documentation as you can about the shoot (I assume this happened on a shoot) to take with you such as:-
emails - especially if they set out your limits and what was going to be done on the shoot, e.g. video or nude stills;
where and when the shoot occurred;
how you were paid - if by cheque possibly a bank statement;
did you tell anyone afterwards - friend or relation;
did you get medical help and where from;
how old you were;

The police should be sympathetic and treat you based on your report and not on any work you have undertaken. It may be that another model has already reported him and a further report could trigger a full investigation.

Whatever happens good luck.

You must report this man for the safety of other models, women in general and for the good name of other photographers. If he is not named, all photographers become suspects and that is not good for the large majority of men and women (photographers) who would never think of touching a model.
