If you are doing a portfolio shoot to practice or show your talents, you, the model or a stylist could be the supplier. In some cases it could be all three of you.

In case you aren't familiar with stylists they are people who collect clothes and props which go together well and follow whatever theme you have decided on.

If you are a middle aged man who knows nothing of young female fashion, a stylist is a good idea. They will often work on a TF basis as they need portfolio shots too. If you decide to go for a stylist make sure it's a clothes stylist as you also get, food, furniture and location stylists too.

If you decide to go without a stylist, you would do well to discuss with your model and involve them in the decision process which would make them feel more involved and should produce better results.

Once you decide the style, your model may have some clothes and you will have to source others. Charity shops can be good for this. Again, unless you are into fashion and good at colour matching, get your model involved. Models male and female usually have a good idea of what works and what doesn't, it's part of what they do.

If you are discussing the shoot with your model and /or stylist make a moodboard on Pinterest and share it with them so that you all are on the same page. This is also a good idea for collecting shots of good poses too.

Hope the above is useful to you and look forward to seeing the results.
