We will be issuing compensation to our Premium Members for the downtime experienced last week due to a server crash. With the next update to the site, we will be adding a new feature which will allow members to give the gift of Premium Membership to other users on the site. When we launch this new feature, all Premium members will have a one month Platinum gift subscription assigned to their account that they can then give to another member on the site. I hope this compensation is acceptable for the inconvenience experienced during our downtime. I want to thank everyone for their patience and support over the last week.

Now that is thinking outside the box.

Paid members get ample recompense for what was a fairly minor episode

Free members get the chance to get a taste of the advantages of upgrading and may pay to keep it

The forums probably get a boost from those seeking or offering a trade.

Personally I would have gone for something like three months as I think that would have had a more dynamic effect on the second two areas and perhaps really stirred things up but I'm guessing that would not have been so easy to implement.

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most

We are still working out kinks with the code. Currently, we have it so that you can issue a gift to a non-paying member. Eventually, we will have it so that gifts can be issued to anyone regardless of their current membership or can be given to oneself. If you have an active monthly subscription, your paying subscription will be adjusted so that you are not charged on your next rebill. Yearly subscription holders will get a month added on to their subscription end date. I hope to have all of the above implemented with the initial release. If not, we will follow up with a patch to address the areas we are currently having problems with. Thanks.
