Ace and I had been talking about arranging a shoot for months and I was chuffed that we finally got to planning a shoot. On the 16th March I had an awesome day out shooting with Ace at the Curborough circuit while vintage racing cars were preparing for the forthcoming competition season. It was all arranged last minute, now this did set a rather difficult challenge for me because I had to self style a 1920's theme within a small time frame. Ace had researched some of the lady racing drivers of the period and we set out to emulate but not copy exactly the style of the day. I was up at 5am arranging my hair in a style to suit the era. It worked out pretty well and Ace was happy that we had got the main shot in the bag early and reflected the lifestyle and elements of fashion from the 1920s. We were able to move on to some more casual period shots and ended up with me shaking my hair out and doing some modern fashiony editorial styles using the vintage cars as an interesting theme. Ace worked tirelessly to set up the right lighting using a mixture of natural light combined with flash as the main lighting set up. He had done a lot of pre-shoot research and offered great directions to help me achieve the poses and expressions to reflect the era I'm am so grateful to Ace for setting me this unusual challenge, it was a great, fun day out and an interesting experience. I believe this is reflected in the pictures so I thought I would share the experience with you. Set 1 - 1920's style 1 2 3 4 5 6 Set 2 letting my hair down 1 2 3 4 5 Set 3 Enjoying the day :-) 1 2

Great stuff! A superb idea that's been brilliantly done.
Of the first set I particularly like No.3. I find myself with a preference for the second set (and the first one in set 3), but I think that's because your hair looks even better in that set. Great look, great styling, and then there's that hair and those eyes.....
Tremendous!

Beautiful work! I'm particularly impressed with your posing, which is so genuine and captures that innocent cheekiness of the vintage theme perfectly.

Particularly like no. 5 I hate to say it, but there's one minor detail that lets a few of them down for me - and that's your tunnel I can't imagine that it was popular on 1920's women.

I'm really glad folk like our pics, Annie really made this shoot work. She took the idea worked her own hairstyling, make up and clothes styling. I think she really suits this kind of work and wanted to make the most of her face, eyes and hair. We originally had agreed to shoot months before but due to my work and hospital visits, I had to postpone several times. We hadn't actually met till the day of the shoot, which says a lot for Annie's communication skills and her ability to work up an idea. Here is the reference pic for the main shot I wanted. I didn't want to slavishly reproduce it but to take it's spirit. Annie had done such a good job with the hair that I did not want to crush it under the helmet which was placed on the car wheel, to add flavour. One of my personal favourites from the day was one of the very last shots: Thank-you Annie, you did me proud, so much so that we have shot again and the results will be out soon.

I agree. I'm sorry to say that this was one of the first things I noticed. Otherwise, wonderful styling/posing. A lovely set. Best wishes ~Rin

Take your point and we were aware of it at the time but in the main shot it looked so much like the little black and gold clip on earings of the time, we decided to leave it. If needs be, it's a very simple fix.

Thanks for all the comments! The feedback really does help us select which pictures to use in our portfolios. I agree with Zenith and Sinopa, the flesh tunnel doesn't look right. It was a great day out and I am very proud of the images because it is a very different look for me. Looking forward to seeing the results from our second shoot!
