Early risers were treated to spectacular purple sun rises this morning (Thursday 6th December) according to the BBC, https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-46467988

it's worth a click to see some richly coloured photographs and an explanation on how the phenomenon came about.

all gone by 09:11 this morning ;-) I decided I'd have a lay in a while...

It is nice that at this time of year you don't have to get up early or stay up late to get the good sun's...

I think Ace may be onto something here... If you follow the link you are taken to a wonderful array of landscapes displaying glorious atmospheric conditions !

I delight in photography of all kinds, and I'm sure others here share that joy !

So, here's my idea...

Following Ace's initiative, if anyone comes across a gallery of interesting images, whatever theme, paste the link here, eh ?

to get it started...

Heaven help me, I did not know that purple sunset/sunrises were rare! I guess we do learn something new every day.

If you read Ace's link and the explanation of how purple sun rise/sets occur you will understand why I thought purple sunsets were common.

(Hint: I live on an island where one is never more than a mile from a beach on the Caribbean Sea or Atlantic Ocean).

~ If I could explain it in words, I would not need a camera! ~
