Net-Model Closing

July 14th at 11:00 pm server time, Net-Model will be going offline, after 27 incredible years. My apologies that this notice comes on such short notice, but I was working around the clock trying to keep the site online. I recently received notification of yet another hike in hosting fees, and since then I have been trying to migrate Net-Model to a new server. Unfortunately, there is a sitewide bug that breaks functionality and I have been unable to fix it. With that being said, it is time. I want to thank each and every one of you for being part of this community, whether you’ve been here since the beginning or joined more recently. Your creativity, collaboration, and support made our community something truly special. I also want to thank those of you who continued to use and support Net-Model even during its quieter times. A special thank you goes to [photographer]Ace[/photographer] for his tireless 19 years of work as a moderator, always going above and beyond to keep this community running. His photo competitions were a highlight that I will truly miss, and he approached every challenge with fairness, empathy, and incredible skill as a mediator. Many may not realize just how much effort he put in behind the scenes, keeping a watchful eye on the site while also being the friendly, welcoming face for newcomers. Everything he did was for the betterment of our community. Again, the site will go dark on July 14th at 11:00 pm server time, so please be sure to back up and download your portfolio images before then. You can do this from your Account Manager > Export.Thank you again for everything. If there is anything that I can help with in the future, please do not hesitate to reach out. Sincerely,James Hussein Net-Model, LLC [email protected]

Sad to hear James, but inevitable I suppose. At it's peak Netmodel was an incredible site and a wonderful community that has never been replaced in my opinion. Thank you for your efforts and for a great deal of enjoyment over the years. Thanks too, as you rightly say, to Ace for his work over the years and for keeping things moving in the quieter times.   Best wishes, Kevin

That's a shame James, but not entirely unexpected and probably inevitable. A quarter of a century ago Net-Model was cutting edge and well ahead of the scene, but the World has moved off in a different direction as Gen Z grew up and OF/AF became the go-to for those who 10 or 20 years ago would have been content just to model. As for the technical challenges of keeping a popular website running, I feel your pain; though fortunately I have a very good web team who iron out the perennial issues which regularly afflict my own site as t'internet evolves. Good luck with your other ventures and thanks for providing NM for us for so long. Bob

Can I echo Kevin and Bob's comments James, I am sad to see the site disappear: it has been part of my photographic life almost since I started shooting models as I joined in 2007.  I did drift away some years ago but I never left completely and with encouragement from Ace I have paid my part in trying to keep some life in the site over the last 7 years.  I do appreciate all your efforts and thank you for allowing me a forum to exhibit my hobby. Best wishes for whatever you want to do next. Russ

The end of an era indeed !  Very sorry to see it go. I feel I have used Net Model for as long as I can remember shooting digital cameras, so its been awhile for sure 🙁

That's a huge blow, especially after it was saved from the brink of closure before.

Farewell NM. +photojoe

Such a shame to pop in and be greeted with this message. Thanks to Ace and James for keeping the site going this long but I guess the old gals time has come. I know how hard these decisions are to make but I also know the relief that comes with finally accepting it is time for a fresh direction. Hope you make the most of that extra time you will now have James.
